There was an art exhibit/fashion show last night at Bar Basic.  There were so many things to look at, it would have been impossible to be bored.  There was were artists painting, body art, jewelry, great music, a fun crowd, and of course a fabulous fashion show.  The FGI Focus group styled the show using some of the hottest models that SanDiego has to offer.  They used a select few fashion designers who are involved in the Passport to Style event taken place the week of September 5-14, 2008.  I was one of the designers who was showcased for the event.  I got to meet other talented designers and see their own unique and very creative styles. 

And, for all you out there who are in support of local artists and designers, I need your help.  The Passport to Style event is a contest for lots of scholarship money and exposure.  The designer wins based on how many people vote for their designs during the fashion week.  Starting on September 5, stop by Kate Ross Boutique in North Park, buy your passport, and vote for me!!  Please see the flyers below for details and please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or comments.  email: brooke@bcatthreads.com

I just came across someone that I wanted to share with you. I met this woman at a fashion mixer that I attend monthly. We met a few months back and now she is one of those pleasant suprises that I run into every few meetings. She is an artist who is now interested in creating textiles. Basically, transforming her art into fabric, so then someone like me can transform her fabric into art all over again. She just put up a blog page where she showcases some of her work. She recently sent me a link and I am really excited about it. I love her style and think its close to my own style. I can see us collaborating in the future to create some amazing peices.
